I think you'll love the new set up. Our Tundra pulls our trailer like a champ. We're right at 6,200lbs and I can feel it on some of the steeper grades, but it does great. Good luck!

I've had to hitch up a few times on uneven spots... I try not to pick those sites but sometimes you've gotta deal with what you've got. Just take your time with it.

By far the nicest campgrounds in Alaska are the Federal, State and local campgrounds. No they for the most part don't have electric, Wifi, cable TV, sewer at the site but they have unbelievable views, large picnic tables and fireplaces.
I wholeheartedly agree with that. The State and Forest Service campgrounds beat out almost any commercial campground which is just as well... I despise parking lot camping.

I would leave it out but make darn sure you have room and the slide is clear of any obstructions. If it's close put the slide in.

RE: tow haul mode
When we're towing we keep it in tow/haul mode. I'm sure there are plenty of others who can give you some serious technical breakdown but it changes the gear ratio's so the truck doesn't hunt for the right gear while you're cruising down the road.

Good gracious.. that is one teeny tiny travel trailer. It looks like someone sliced the front section off a 'regular' TT and stuck an axle under it. :)

RE: Jayco makes a "quality trailer"?
My folks have had two Jayco 5th wheels and they pulled them from one end of the country to the other several times with no problems. What's important here is that Jayco is standing behind their product... in this day and age that's saying a lot. Hopefully they can get the kinks worked out and enjoy their new TT.

I can't help you too much with sites as it's been eons since we've been to Juneau but I can tell you it's going to be chilly in September. Dress in layers with something to break the wind. It's likely to be in the mid 40's so think warm. :)

I haven't seen one in a while but there used to be one in Pass Christian, MS... seems like it was a 1000 Trails CG. They had several TT's for rent for members. The campground wasn't worth a flip though.

I don't think your weight will be much of an issue on a light weight TT. I'm a big guy @ 260 and haven't broken through the floor yet. As others said you may feel some flex in the floor (I felt it in our previous TT) but it doesn't mean you're going through the floor. We tow our AS with an '07 Tundra and love it. You'll be amazed at how well the truck handles the trailer.

Yes, Airstreams do tow much, much better than the traditional box on wheels. It's more aerodynamic and with the lower center of gravity I can't imagine what would pull better.

What is the advantage of a lifted truck?
You can run over little cars that get better MPG's :p
Lift 'em high enough and you can pass right over one of those little wind up cars and not even notice. :)

I've been there... After buying our current trailer I found a newer one that looked like a much better deal. A couple of weeks later I went with a friend who wanted to look at it. Boy, would I have been disappointed had I passed up on the one we bought. It was very worn... in the end I ended up with the better deal. It's likely you did too. Enjoy the new rig!

Well, I have to admit that's a unique set up. Pretty sure I've never come across one of those before. With gas prices climbing as they are we'll probably see a lot of innovative products coming out. I would love to see the inside of one of these.
